Description

Does the pressure transducer have a specific install orientation? Any problems with a horizontal verses vertical install?
Typically the readings are not effected by orientation. You may see a shift in the readings on the very low pressure range (0 to 10"H2O and 0 to 1 PSI) if you change orientation but you should be able to calibrate that out in your readout device.

What is the resolution limit on this device? I'm interested in your 0-2 bar sensor and what the lowest pressure value it is able to measure accurately.
Resolution would depend on how small of a signal change the instrumentation used to read the 0 to 10VDC output can resolve. The sensor will read from 0 to 2 bar but the lower 10% of the range (0 to 0.2 bar) would end to be less accurate

Are the high accuracy transducers rated for use with hydrogen?
We do not recommended using our transducers in a hydrogen application due to embrittlement of the wetted parts when exposed to hydrogen

Hi, we have a PX409-16BI transmitter that we are developing a validation procedure for. Stated zero and span tolerances are +/- 0.5% FS typical with a +/- 1% FS maximum. Which should I use for validation? (BSL is not a validation tolerance)
You would use the +/- 1% FS max
Date published: 2020-06-12
When you say accuracy, are you referring to the resolution or the measurement, or the actual measurement accuracy? What are the respective values of each?
Thank you for contacting Omega. The PX409 is a full analog path sensor, meaning it's resolution is essentially infinite. The accuracy we specify details the uncertainty of the output. We specify the combined uncertainty contributed by non-linearity, repeatability, and histories.

I have to return a couple of these pressure sensors to a client overseas (UK). But before my company can ship them, we need to know the ECCN export number. Please supply the ECCN for these items... PXM419-070BA10V. Thank you.
Thank you for contacting Omega engineering, for export related question kindly send an email to exportcompliance@omega.com. Thank you.

I would like to purchase the Item# PX429-001GI, which shows a pressure range of 0-1 psi. How can I determine the resolution (ie x.xxxx psi) for the pressure reading that I will be able to get from the transducer?
This would depend on how small of a signal change the instrumentation you are using to read the signal can detect.

Are 2-D or 3-D CAD drawings available for the PX459-030AI pressure sensor?
There are no CAD drawings currently available for the PX459 pressure transducers
Date published: 2023-02-16
What is the average pressure drop across one of these transducers?
There is no pressure drop rating for this sensor.
Date published: 2023-06-13
What is the difference between the PX409-030AI-EH and PX409-030AI Models?
Maxx, the -EH models have a 0.05% BFSL static pressure accuracy, whereas the models without -EH will have a 0.08% BFSL accuracy.

I have a PX409-3.5KGUSBH model transducer that currently reads absolute pressure. Can I calibrate the transducer in house to read relative gauge pressure instead?
Thank you for your inquiry
While the construction of a gauge or absolute sensor is fundamentally different, in this case where your sensor has a range of 3,500 psi A is so large it should be fine. This issue is that an absolute sensor has no way to react to changes in atmospheric pressure like a gauge sensor does. The typical worst-case limits in atmospheric pressure changes (if you don't change your elevation) are between 13.5 – 15.0 psi, or about 1.5 psi, this is only (1.5/3500*100) = 0.04% FS change for the sensor, smaller than the error band! You can safely ignore atmospheric pressure changes for this device and offset your device to represent a gauge pressure reading.
hope this was helpful?

is the USB pressure sensor communication documented so it can be used with a language like LabVIEW? i would expect it shows up as a serial port and has a communication protocol to read values.
Thank you for your inquiry, Omega doesn’t support LabVIEW, but customers have told us they use our USBH sensors with LabVIEW : The easy-to-use ASCII data protocol of the USBH sensors can be handled with a standard LabVIEW VI like: Basic Serial Write and Read.vi. (While Omega gladly provides support for our .NET API, we cannot provide support for implementation as a part of LabVIEW). ). If you have any additional questions please contact our customer support department.

I thought the sensor will come with a USB plug cable, but it doesn't. How should I connect the cable to a USB plug? What kind of USB plug should I get for it?
There are two versions of the PX409 Pressure Transducers. One version as an analog output of millivolts, Voltage or Current. The other version has a high speed USB output. It appears you have the analog output version with would not have a USB connect on it. You would need to purchase a new PX409 with the part number ending in USBH. This unit has an attached cable with the USB connection on the end

Hello, we need to measure up to 20 Bar pressure absolute. You offer a 17.5 Bar and 30 Bar option. Would the 17.5 Bar sensor report up to 20 Bar, and without causing damage?
Hello, Thank you for contacting Omega Engineering. If you want to measure 20 bar absolute you should not use the 17.5 Bar absolute unit, you may damage the diaphragm. Please go with the 30 bar absolute model. Thank you.

What is the ambient storage temperature of this device? Is it the same or similar to the operating temperature?
These units have been tested to withstand an operating temperature of -49 to 240 Fahrenheit but not for prolonged periods. We do not have data on how the sensor will be affected if you store these transducers under those extreme conditions for longer periods of time.

What do you recommend if we exceed the proof pressure of 300%? Is the equipment still good to use? Would you recommend recalibration?
Avoid exceeding the proof pressure rating of the sensor. You will damage the sensing diaphragm of the unit. It will most not be calibratable once damage
