Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed that the mini connector is separate. My company has been purchasing this Tcouple for decades. The latest batch came with no connectors. Nobody informed us at time of purchase, and we were charge for rush shipping to a customer that was unhappy with the delay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value for a Great Product! This is the 3rd or 4th batch we've purchased for our lab. They withstand the rigors of being installed and abused in our test stands and keep going! We use them till the inspectors look at them odd and swap in the next one! They are great value for a great product!

when would I use a grounded versus ungrounded thermocouple?

Asked by: david w
Thank you for your inquiry David W. You would use grounded when there is no risk of any electrical noise affecting your measurement and you want a fast time response. You will used ungrounded to minimize the electrical noise on the system however your time response will be slower.

What is the response time

Asked by: engine09
Thermocouple response time is a function of the probe diameter and the junction type such as Grounded, Ungrounded and Exposed. The link attached will help you determine the response times of various diameters of thermocouples with the three aforementioned junction types. https://www.omega.co.uk/temperature/Z/ThermocoupleResponseTime.html

Do you have guidelines for minimum bend radius? I'm not seeing any in the datasheet.

Asked by: juha2097
The minimum bend radius would be 2 times the probes diameter.

Does this item include the female connector?

Asked by: cheme3meche
Thank you for your inquiry. These products do not come with the female miniature mating connector. Sold separately. Click Here: https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-connectors-panels-and-block-assemblies/c/temperature-connectors?view=list

I am using the probes with temperature range of 0-260 degC. I make sure the tip is always measuring within range. But, some portion of the sheath far away from the tip may be under a higher temperature, say 300 degC. Is this okay?

Asked by: hyaaq
Thank you for your inquiry. No the temperature range of the entire sheath is 0 to 260 C. If you exposed any part of the probe to a temperature higher than the rated temperature, it will lead the probe to have a reduce lifetime and failed prematurely. If you need to measure higher temperatures, please get a probe rated for that maximum temperature.

What is a maximum diameter of the cable connected to the TC? Could you recommend a cable to connect the TC for length of 80m aprox.?

Asked by: Libor
There is no cable or lead wires attached to the probe. You will need to use a mating female connector and extension wire to extend the run of your circuit. The mating connectors can only handle up to a 20 gauge wire. The maximum distance you can run a type E 20 gauge thermocouple wire is 140'.

Are your assemblies with exposed junction considered pressure / vacuum tight up to the connector? I want to install one in a vacuum oven. Have used sealed probes before, but need quicker response with exposed junction.

Asked by: cbonnerup
Hello, thank you for your question. Although the probe is epoxy sealed we do not recommend using ones with exposed junctions in a vacuum environment because air will leak through from the the outside connector side of the probe into the vacuum.

for the these thermocouple probes with immersion, can i isolate a part of it and let just a little part non isolated for the measurement. Does this procedure affect the accuracy and the calibration or i should immerge all the probe to get good results.

Asked by: moun1992
Thank you for your inquiry mouna1992. The thermocouple junction that makes up the sensor is located at the tip of the probe which needs to be immersed into the material at all times for accurate temperature measurements. Taking into account this fact, you do not need to fully immersed the probe into the medium. You can immersed most of the length of the probe without any effects on the accuracy as you describe on your question.
