Features

The OSHFV-Series are infrared temperature sensors with a built-in 6 digit backlit LCD display, simultaneous analog/digital outputs, Dual Laser Sighting, Superior Optical resolution and free OMEGAonline software.

The OSHFV-Series features very high temperature measurement ranges from 0 up to 1600°C. These ranges are perfect for measuring surfaces of very hot equipment like furnaces, hot extrusion equipment and more!

The Dual Laser Sighting allows for easily installation of the IR sensor. The integrated dual laser provides mobility to the sensor since it can be re-installed and re-aligned very quickly.

The OSHFV-Series sensors have adjustable emissivity to measure the temperature of different surfaces such as iron and steel, marble, asphalt and more. They also have an optional air purge collar for sensor cooling and bracket accessories for easy installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good device, bad documentation The product works well, but the operator's manual contains a MAJOR error in the section on how to set up the sensor. The manual says to enter setup mode by pressing and holding both buttons. However, pressing and holding down, then pressing up resets the sensor, erasing all settings. Setup must be entered by pressing and holding up, then pressing down. This is not explained in the manual. It took 6 calls to Omega over two days to even explain to a tech support person what the error was. I hope that it will be corrected in future documentation.

Can you use this with a CNi16D44 controller? if so, how do you set up the controller for right temp reading?

Asked by: adam2
You would need to scale the input of the Controller with the Analog output of the IR sensor. Once that is completed the display will show the temperature relative to what the IR device is measuring.

Am I able to receive the output of this sensor into my own application? Is there an API for it?

Asked by: Mark A
Thank you for your inquiry. You can either use a device that will accept an analog signal or use the optional USB Communication with the provided software.

Is it correct that the output can be adjusted between 4-20ma AND 0-5Vdc? This is reflected in the listed specs but no mentioned in the manual.

Asked by: Edwardop
Please send your inquiry to temp@omega.com to provide assistance.

Can this wavelength range (8-14 μm) penetrate a Sapphire window? It is currently known that SiO2 window is unable to transmit.

Asked by: Vincent Chien
Infrared sensors with (8-14um) Spectral Response will not see through any obstruction and will only measure the surface temperature. Omega recommends 2.5 um or less for measuring through quartz or glass and Sapphire should be OK as well.
