Additonal Features

The Industry Leading PLATINUM Series family of microprocessor-based digital panel meters offer unparalleled flexibility in process measurement. While extremely powerful and versatile, great care has gone into designing a product that is very easy to set-up and use. The automatic hardware configuration recognition eliminates the need for jumpers and allows the firmware to automatically simplify itself, eliminating all menu options that do not apply to a specific configuration.

Each unit allows the user to select the input type from 9 thermocouple types (J, K, T, E, R, S, B, C, and N), Pt RTDs (100, 500, or 1000 Ω, with either 385, 392, or 3916 curve), thermistors (2250 Ω, 5K Ω, and 10K Ω), DC voltage, or DC current, and Strain & Bridge Inputs. The bipolar voltage or current inputs are fully scalable to virtually all engineering units, with a selectable decimal point that is perfect for use with pressure, flow, or other process input.

Two alarms can be configured for above, below, hi/lo, and band triggering using either absolute or deviation alarm trigger points. In addition, high-high/low-low indication is available. The two optional single pole double throw mechanical relays can be assigned to either or both alarm triggers. Two annunciators and three display colors can also be assigned to the alarm triggers.

The PLATINUMΩ Series device features a large, 3-color, 9 segment programmable LED display with the capability to change color and/or change the state of designated outputs every time an alarm is triggered. Now 6 digit display is available. The universal power supply accepts 90 to 240 Vac. The low voltage power option accepts 24 Vac or 12 to 36 Vdc.

Embedded Ethernet and Serial Communications
Optional embedded ethernet on the 1Ω16 and 1Ω8 DIN models allow the units to connect directly to an ethernet network and transmit data in standard TCP/IP packets, or serve web pages over a LAN or the internet. Optional serial communications are also available configurable as RS232 or RS485, with straightforward ASCII commands or MODBUS®. All three types of communications interfaces (USB, ethernet, and serial) can be installed and active simultaneously.

*If you have the previous firmware version 1.3.0.25 installed, please upgrade it to the latest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic DAQ For a basic data acquisition this part works fine. I had to call into omega for help navigating the menu to get the scaling correct for the 4-20mA, 0-1000psi pressure transducer. If all you need to do is acquire and log data from display this part is just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Process Signal Conditioner and Display We have been using these panel meters for a few years now in our lab to set up and monitor several different test parameters: temperature (thermocouple or RTD), pressure, flow etc. Easy to set up, great features (multiple input options, min, max readings, programmable outputs), and very reliable operations. Overall, a very versatile product for all you transducer signal conditioning, display and monitoring applications.

What is the recommended Calibration interval for these controllers and what labs are qualified to perform the calibration?

Asked by: BryceO
Hi BryceO, We have a suggested calibration interval of 1 year. Omega has calibration lab available to provide periodic calibration. Sorry, we do not have a list of 3rd party calibration labs. Best regards OMEGA

The Platinum User Guide and manual do not mention factory calibration. Do these units go through a calibration process? If so. is it traceable to NIST? Or do you consider calibration to be something that is done to analog devices only? Thanks.

Asked by: Superior Tech
Thank you for your inquiry. Unit is shipped fully calibrated from factory.

How do I input -10 on my linear scaling? Is this done in manual or live mode?

Asked by: hippy828
Hi hippy828, Thank you for the inquiry. This is entered in manual mode. To change to a negative number; With all digits at 0 use left button to scroll all the way to the left to select negative symbol. Then you can change to -10. Best regards OMEGA

We are using DP8EPT-330-006-DC (with 6 pin output expansion board connector). We are not getting voltage output from the pin 2 and 1 of Output expansion board. Do we need to do settings to get the output?

Asked by: Gnan
Hi Gnan, Thank you for the inquiry. You will need to configure the output first. Output can be set up as control or retransmission of process value. If setting up as retransmission you'll need to configure the process value vs output range high and low. Best regards OMEGA

I am not able to get my DP8EPT to read a 4 wire RTD - programming from the front panel. It always show the low scale setting (32 degrees)

Asked by: MarkH
Hi MarkH, Thank you for the inquiry. Please check that RTD is selected in the INIT/INPT section of the menus. Do not go to other areas of the INPT submenu after selecting correct RTD types. If you need assistance troubleshooting please email note to TEMP@OMEGA.COM. Best regards OMEGA

I have a DP8PT-330-EIC and on power up it is displaying three things bUSB, bSER, and bEIP. I looked in the manual and can't find any information on this. What do those mean? It seems like the unit doesn't respond to any button presses either.

Asked by: Radomnik
This means that the firmware is not being recognized or corrupted. You can go to Omega's FTP site and get firmware to update your Controller and not successful it can be returned for repair.
