Heater Material
Silicone rubber fiberglass insulated flexible heaters can improve heat transfer and speed warm-ups where controlled heating is required in confined areas. Two circuit designs are available: etched foil or wire wound. Heaters with etched foil designed elements are available where the length or width dimension is less than 10"(254 mm). All other heaters where both the length and the width dimensions exceed 10" (254 mm) use the wire-wound element design. Effect of power density: gentle warming is best done with 2.5 W/in2. An excellent all-purpose unit is the 5 W/in2. Rapid warm-up and high temperature are achieved with the 10 W/in2; however, the temperature must be controlled as the safe maximum operating temperature limit of 450°F (232°C) may be exceeded.
CAUTION AND WARNING!
Fire and electrical shock may result if products are misused or installed or used by non-qualified personnel. See inside back cover for additional warning.
Applications
-Freeze Protection
-Low-Temperature Ovens
-Heat Tracing Systems
-Viscosity Control
-Dehumidification of Motors and Control Devices

I am looking for a MTBF value, or any reliability information for P/N SRFGA-236/2-P. Thanks!
Hi CrimsonQuality,
Flexible heaters do not com with a 'failure' specification. If used properly, no failures should occur.

I need dimensional information about part number "SRFGA-1248/2-P". I need this for modeling purposes and proper fitment to the vessel. Most important is length and width. Thanks!
The length is 48" and the width is 12" for this particular Heater item number.

I want to find a small strip desktop heating pad that is powered from a USB port on computer. I use a rolling writing desk without power plug in near by. I did see one a while back and now cannot find it again.
Most USB ports put out 5 volt @ 100mA DC. Unfortunately Omega does not sell a heater rated for 5 volt DC.

I am looking for a heating element that would uniformly heat a small chamber about 6ft x 3 ft x 5 ft (about 100 ft3). cover large area for uniformity. T= 30-60C, for drying food material/ herbal / fruit etc. comply to FDA for food processing.
Thank you for your inquiry. Please send your request to heaters@omega.com

Can you explain how to connect this heating pad to a power supply. I got a 120 V part and confused about how to connect these two cords to a plug.
It would be best in this case to call in and ask for the Temperature group or send an email request to temp@omega.com for assistance.

Hi, for SRFGA-208/10-P, as it uses pressure-sensitive adhesive, is it possible to transfer the heater from one system to another? Or do we need to reapply adhesive/RTV?
Hi Jeri
Thank you for the inquiry. You will need to reapply adhesive.

I need a heating film with 15mm hole in the middle. Outer dimentions should be 5cm x 5cm. Opertating temparature range should be 30-100C. What are the options I have?
This would not be a standard part. Most custom designs have a $1000 min order and 8-10 week lead time. Please send your request including quantity along with a dimensional drawing or sketch to: heaters@omega.com

I need to rapidly (in <10 min) heat a thin 2x4 inch copper plate from room temp to 120F. Probably only need 2.5 W/sq in, but got the 10 W/sq in. Is this safer, since latter can 'handle' higher current without burning up if temp controller fails?
Hi bbudd,
Thank you for the inquiry. The 2 versions have the same silicone material. The 10 watt/sq in will heat up much faster so it has potential to burn out faster than the 2.5 watts/sq in. You'll need fast responding temperature sensor and and fast responding controller for the 10 watt/ sq in heater.

Is the outlet connector for the SRFGA-1012-5-P a Q-710? How can I modify my order to have this type of connector if the default one is not this (or compatible with Q-712)?
The SRFGA series Heaters are only sold with stripped leads and the customers add connectors or use other means to make the electrical connection.

Hi, Could the heat be varied using a rheostat or some similar device ?
Thank you for your inquiry. You may control heaters with current or voltage regulating devices.

I'm looking to use one of these heaters to raise the temperature to about 210 ° C for 48 hours. Is it possible to control the temperature in these heaters? If I want to wrap it around a cylinder, does it sell the right wire for it?
Hi Harzandi,
Thank you for the inquiry.
Please forward this application support request to HEATERS@OMEGA.COM

Can I use this heater in a pit where there is a pipe, but the pit gets filled with water. Was wondering if this was waterproof and submersible?
The Heaters are water resistant so splashing on their surface is OK but they should not be submerged.

Are these mats waterproof? I am heating up frozen metal and there will be some water condensation on the mat. Is this a hazard? If yes, should I try to enclose the mat in some waterproof material? Many thanks.
Hi Bbudd1,
Thank you for the inquiry. These heating pads are not waterproof. Best is to provide protective cover to prevent wet conditions at the heater location.
Best regards

I am looking to incorporate one of these heaters to maintain temp around 35 C for extrusion. Can these be controlled by our microcontrollers supporting other component with adequate relays and power supply or does it require a dedicated controller?
Thank you for your inquiry! Heaters are generally recommended for use with controllers/PLC's. However, your microcontrollers should be compatible given that they can supply just below the maximum supply voltage of the heater.

I need a non-magnetic heater, what material is the foil made from? I will turn the heater off during measurements so the current from the AC power will not be an issue.
The only non-magnetic Heater Omega sells is the PLMLV series. The Silicone insulated Heaters use NiCr or Inconel and are not considered non-magnetic in all cases.

Do you have a list of PID temp controllers and relays that would work with these heaters?
Thank you for your inquiry. We offer a wide range of PID controllers with built-in mechanical relays as well as external solid state relays that are compatible with this heater series. Once you determine your total wattage requirements, you can then select the appropriate model from our website.

Can the Silicone Heating mats withstand a pressure application?
Clamping pressure for silicone rubber heaters is up to 18lb/in2 on a flat surface. This is the only criteria available for this type of Heater regarding pressure.

Is this heater compatible with a model 330 Lakeshore PID?
Omega's SRFGA Heaters are plain Resistance Heaters so you will need to check with Lakeshore to see what Amperage their Controllers can tolerate. Once you have that information feel free to contact Omega with the specifications for the Heater your process requires.
