Low profile load cells are basically compression and tension/compression load cells. Mounting holes and female threads provide easy installation. Used frequently in weighing research and in-line force monitoring.

The LCHD is also available in metric configurations, with ranges from 0-2.5 to 0-10,000 kgf and metric threads. Please see the LCMHD for complete details, or contact our Pressure department for more information.

What is the maximum allowable torque due to side load on the load cell, while measuring compression load?

It sounds like what you are looking for is the maximum allowable bending moment due to a side load. Although it may vary depending on the load cell capacity most ranges should be able to handle 25% of capacity in inch pounds. For example, a LCHD-2k, with a capacity of 2000 pounds, would be able to withstand a bending moment of 500 inch pounds. I hope this answers your question but if not I would suggest that you call and speak directly with one of the engineers in the Pressure and Strain department.

Does Omega offer piezoelectric-style load cells for fatigue loading? I did a search for "piezo" on the Omega web site and found five series of accelerometers, one series of pressure transducers, but no load cells.

Hello, we currently do not offer piezo-electric style load cells, we only offer bonded strain gauge load cells.

The standard LCHD does not have any explosion proof ratings. If you search our website for Intrinsically Safe, Ultra Low Profile Load Cells you will find a FM Intrinsically Safe Rated version on the LCHD load cells

For years I have used an LCHD-15K-5T for fatigue testing to 10K. You state that the load cell's frequency response time is 3 milliseconds, but the load cells can not be used for dynamic load applications. Why not? High speed accuracy or cumulative damage?

Hello, thank you for contacting us. The LCHD is a bonded strain gauge type load cell, where the strain gauges are adhered on the diaphragm. Dynamic loads will cause them to come unbonded and eventually you will see shift in your zero/span balance. For dynamic loads it will be better to go with piezo electric style load cells
