Description

Rated 4 out of 5 by from as advertised they are as advertised, and function the way they should
Date published: 2016-08-22
Rated 3 out of 5 by from deformed tip; inconsistent manufacturing Three of the 5 devices had unequal lengths of wire emerging at the tip, so when welded the tip junction was pulled to one side and even pulled back a bit. My expectation was that the tip would lay along the central axis of the wire so that I could advance the tip to just touch a surface, and only two devices met that expectation. Better manufacturing control is needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful thermocouples We have used dozens of these thermocouples over the last couple of years. Tjey are very reliable. Unfortunately, they are used in a destructive test and are usually used only once. But we keep coming back for more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Thermocouples, Bad Selector/Configurator Omega's thermocouples are as good as their online selector/configurator isn't. I've never had any issues with their thermocouples or service, but they really need to redesign their online configurator to be user friendly. Finding out what is in stock is an ordeal and I've known of some people just giving up and buying elsewhere.

What is the overall diameter of this sensor? What is the accuracy between 0 C to 50 C?

Asked by: HGNPAmarathunga
Thank you for your inquiry. The maximum nominal size of the wire (w x h) is 0.024" x 0.040". The accuracy is 0.5 C or 0.4 % whichever value is greater.

1. What is the difference between "mini male connector with spool cap" and "single spool, mini male connector with spool cap"? 2. It says the price as $70.36 for a pack of 5. So its 5 miniconnectors with 36" wire with each? Thank you.

Asked by: hmnola
Thank you for your inquiry. The descriptions both refer to the same product. The price that you see is for a 5 sensors total.

Are these autoclavable? If yes, can they be autoclaved multiple times? We need to be able to sterilize them before and after use.

Asked by: scslab
Thank you for your inquiry scslab. These wire sensors are not for autoclave use. Here is the link to our autoclave thermocouples: https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-probes/probes-with-lead-wires/p/TJ36-ACL

Do you have an epoxy available to coat the tips so they could be placed in a motor winding to read temperature?

Asked by: dcote
Thanks for connecting with Omega. Per your question, depending on the temperature, please review our OB-100/200 Series https://www.omega.com/en-us/sensors-and-sensing-equipment/sensing-accessories/adhesives-and-paste/p/OB-100-OB-200-OT-200

Since these are sold in packs of five. If I purchase quantity 1 does that mean I will get one pack of 5?

Asked by: OJOnick
That is correct. QTY 1 = is one pack of 5. Please contact us at temp@omega.com if you have any further questions. Thanks!

I have Omega HH502 and trying to get a thermocouple that can be used with. I see that thermocouple that came with it has model # SC-TT-K-30-36. However, I don't see any SC-XX model available. Can I use 5SC-XX models instead with the HH502?

Asked by: UM2431
Thank you for your inquiry UM2431. The SC-TT-K-30-36 is available on our website. Here is the link: https://www.omega.com/en-us//p/SC-TT-K-30-36. You can also us the 5SC models too with the HH502.

The product data sheet specifies "NIST Calibration Available" however I do not see how to specify that in the numbering scheme. For example I would like the 5SRTC-GG-K-30-108 with this option

Asked by: stevieboy
To get part number 5SRTC-GG-K-30-108 with NIST traceable certification you would have to use the Configure Now box on the 5SRTC page. This will let you build the part number step by step and one of the last steps is to answer with or without Calibration. If you hit YES then you'll get part number 5SRTC-GG-K-30-108-CAL-3. The link here will aid you in finding that builder. https://www.omega.com/en-us/search/?text=5srtc

Would the exposed bead type thermocouple be suitable for use in Deionized water? If not, what are the concerns?

Asked by: Seth_Nickname
Thank you for your inquiry! Exposed thermocouples are not recommended for immersion/submersion in liquid because of the risk of a short. Deionized water may be less prone to this issue, but a probe is still the recommended option.

What would be the bead and insulation diameter for the thermocouple with 30 AWG wire and PFA insulation?

Asked by: Dustin92
Thank you for your inquiry. The diameter of the bead is approximately 2.5 times the diameter of each wire without the insulation. Item# 5SRTC-TT-T-30-36 has a nominal size (cross section) of 0.6 x 1.0 mm (0.024" x 0.040").

What is the typical impedance of K-type and J-type thermocouples (specifically 48-inch, 40-AWG if available)?

Asked by: ahti
Hi Ahti, Thankyou for the inquiry, Resistance per double ft @ 20 C is 60.88 Ohms and 37.01 Ohms for K and J respectively. This would be the resistance of a 1 ft thermocouple measured from one stripped lead to the other stripped lead. Best regards OMEGA
