Hi, for this kind of thermocouple wires that they have just a little part appeared, can i immerge them in liquid and solid phases of a solution or just liquid phase. If not, could you please suggest this kind of thermocouples for both phases? thanks
Thank you for your inquiry mouna1992. These thermocouple wires are great for solid phases but not great for liquid phases. We recommend getting an immersion probe or hermetically sealed thermocouple which would allow you to immerse the probe into the liquid state and still allow to take a measurement in the solid state. Here is the link for the first option: https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-probes/probes-with-lead-wires/p/TJC36. Here is the link for the second option: https://www.omega.com/en-us/temperature-measurement/temperature-wire-sensors/p/HSTC.

Date published: 2020-10-02
what is the temp. range for 5TC-TT-T-24-72?
The temperature range for the 5TC-TT-T-24-72 would be –454 to 752°F or –270 to 400°C
Date published: 2020-10-16
Is this an UL listed thermocouple?
Thank you for your inquiry. No, this is not a UL listed thermocouple.
Date published: 2024-04-01
The process temperature range for 5TC-TT-T-36-72 Type T Thermocouples is listed as 0C to 150C. Is that accurate? I thought Type T thermocouples are typically rated for approximately -270 to 370C.
Thank you for your inquiry. Omega only tests for accuracy above 0 C, but type T thermocouples can measure down to -270 C. 150 C is the maximum temperature limit for the wire gage and insulation for this part number.
Date published: 2020-03-04

What is the best way to connect a fine thermocouple (K-type, AWG 40) to a data logger?
Thank you for your inquiry Ayoub. The type of data logger input determines whether you need a connector or just the stripped leads to connect the thermocouple to the logger. In terms of connectors, you can get a miniature connector like the SMPW or a standard connector like the OSTW. Please make sure that you check the temperature range of the connector before purchase.

Is it Solid Wire or Stranded wires? If it is stranded, do you have strand count and AWG information?
Thank you for your inquiry Raj1. The 5TC series is only available with solid conductors.
Date published: 2022-11-14
How does resistance change with the length of thermocouples. What I mean is that, how accurate your readings are when you elongate thermocouples?
Thanks for connecting with Omega. Essentially the longer the wire the higher your resistance will be. However, based on how we gauge things here at Omega, the change in resistance becomes excessive if you are exceeding 100ohms or 100ft of wire. The diameter of the wire also plays a role in the resistance of the wire. The thicker the wire the less resistance it will carry. For more information you can always check out this link, https://www.omega.co.uk/temperature/Z/pdf/z049-050.pdf

Why do all these thermocouples have a minimum measurable temperature starting at 0°C? Are there any thermocouples that can measure -20-0°C?
All of our thermocouples are made with Special Limits of Error (SLE). Special Limits of Error Wire (SLE) made products are only spec’d out for temperatures above 32°F (0°C). So, anything below 32°F (0°C) does not comply with the SLE specification. We don't state an accuracy for SLE Wire-Made Products below 0°C (32°F). Accuracy testing shows it is no longer linear. We cannot certify or guarantee the accuracy for temperatures below 0 C. The thermocouples can still measure temperatures below 0 C but we cannot certify the accuracy.

I purchased 5TC-GG-J-36-36 which is fiberglass insulation and is rated 482 °C. I am using 350 °C, but the insulation becomes white in color and peels off which makes the reading from the thermocouple wrong. Why did this problem happen and how to fix it?
Thank you for your inquiry. This part number has a maximum process temperature of 315°C as stated. Thickness of the insulation is affects the maximum temperature capability of the sensor.

Two questions related to weight: Does the 5TC-TT-K-24-36 Ready-Made Insulated Thermocouple use the TT-K-24 Thermocouple Wire Duplex Insulated? If no, can you provide the weight information for the Ready-Made Insulated Thermocouple, please?
Thank you for your inquiry bs29. Yes, the 5TC-TT-K-24-36 thermocouple uses the TT-K-24 Thermocouple Wire.
Date published: 2022-11-10
What is the maximum diameter of the 5TC-TT-T-40-36 wire and the accuracy of the sensor?
Thank you for your inquiry. Thermocouple wire is double insulated meaning there's insulation on each individual conductor then it's wrapped in an overall insulation. Since the wire is double insulated it's not perfectly round it's oval shaped, giving dimensions 0.017" x 0.026". The sensor meets SLE standards so accuracy will be +/- 0.5C or 0.4% of reading, whichever is greatest.

Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately there are no pressure ratings for this product.
Date published: 2022-04-08
What is the overall diameter of the wire? What is the accuracy between 0 Celsius to 50 Celsius?
Thank you for your inquiry. The accuracy is ±0.5°C or ±0.4% of the actual value, use the greater tolerance of the two.
