Description

Formula changed!
We use this epoxy weekly and have been buying it for many years. However, the last batch we purchased was a gel formula instead of the liquid we have become accustom to. Do no like it very much as it is difficult to fill a syringe and use it in the field.

Omegabond 101
I have been using OB-101 in the small packs for several years now to bond the printed circuit board to the frame/case, which as also the heat sink, on automotive Engine Control Modules manufactured with surface mount components. It withstands thermal expansion and contraction, and vibration, while also being a good thermal conductor and yet a good electrical insulator.
Shelf life is substantially longer that what is marked on the packets.

Good Product and great service.
We have been using this epoxy for many years and have not experienced any issues with the exception of the more recent texture difference with part A. It used to be smooth and now it is more chunky and dry, making it hard to measure. By warming it up beyond room temperature, we are able to soften it making it easier to portion. This extra step takes away 1 star. The service the company provided is excellent with order follow through and general customer service.

Thermal Epoxy Works Great
I like the variety of potting and full cure times at room temp and with heat. This tends to hold on to my thermocouples well.

Way too long to ship.
The product works as expected but a 3 week lead time is ridiculous.

Used on automotive ECM's.
I have used this for several years on automotive ECM's where SMD power transistors and switches are soldered to the PCB, which is then attached to an aluminum case for heat dissipation. This a requires a product with good thermal conductivity with a high dielectric rating. It has a very smooth and easy to spread consistency, and a good balance of pot life v.s. cure time.

Hi, I am using OB-102, I received A and B parts but i could not find the proportion of mix. Please let me know the proportion both by weight and by volume. Thank you
Thank you for your inquiry. For OB-102, the mix ratio is 100 parts material to 3.5 parts catalyst by weight.

Can you use bond gap beads with this epoxy? If so what beads do you recommend?
Sorry not sure what bond beads are so please send an inquiry to temp@omega.com with additional information so it can be reviewed.

About OB-200 (twin packs). Expiration date: 7/6. Used on 10/23. 1. My catalyst doesn't become a liquid when 65 deg C is applied. Is it because of expiration? Can i fix it? 2. What are the problems if OB-200 is used after its expiration date?
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately this is expired and therefore will not cure.

What is the expected lifetime of the as-prepared OB-101 when exposed within an environment within the specified limits listed by Omega? Looking to see if this will maintain a bond on the magnitude of decade(s)
Thank you for the inquiry. We do not offer a service life for the cured cements unfortunately.
Best regards
OMEGA

What is the minimum service temperature for OB-100? The spec sheet states -131F but also states -55C... obviously these two values are not equal. Which is correct? I am currently referencing the spec sheet downloaded today, 2-22-23.
Thank you for your inquiry. The correct minimum temperature is -55°C (-67°F). We will update our manual to reflect this.

Can the 200 cure at room temperature given enough time? Say a few days
Thank you for inquiry. Unfortunately OB-200 will never cure at room temperature.
Date published: 2024-03-29
What will happen if the cured OB-200 exposed to the temperature higher than 260 deg C?
Thank you for your inquiry. The cured OB-200 will start to burn-off.

Can you recommend a filler / thickener for OB-200? I am looking to bond a stainless cooling tube to a stainless plate and the OB-200 is a bit too thin to get a nice fillet. Would Stainless steel powder be an acceptable filler for OB-200?
Hi,
Omega does not sell nor have we tested any thickening agents with the OB-200. If you need a cement with a bit thicker consistency you might want to look at a cement like the OB-600 as a possible substitute.
