Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive monitoring Purchased the thermocouples with 120 inch cable to monitor bearing temperatures on inaccessible vacuum pumps. For $20 each it is an extremely cost effective way to monitor these devices.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality, fast reacting thermocouple. Well made thermocouple assembly. The connector and strain relief are always great quality, which I expect from Omega. The self sticking works well on aluminum and fiberglass. Very little thermal lag, the junction is very thin and responsive.

What is the life expectancy in a heat cycling application with 50 psi applied?

Asked by: Bob58
Thank you for your inquiry Bob58. These probes are not pressure rated and they have not been tested on pressurized environments. We do not recommend the use of this probe in pressure environments. Life expectancy for any of our of products depends on the frequency the product is used.

I would like to get the polynomial curves for the SA1 T-type and J-type thermocouples. Where can I find that data?

Asked by: Rphelps
You can request the ITS-90 Thermocouple Polynomials by sending it to temp@dwyeromega.com and one can be sent to you.

Why do you say that the product is not suitable for application underwater? Is it an issue of the effect of having the water as a heat sink? Is it an issue of the thermocouple not being sealed in the polyimide material? Or the adhesive?

Asked by: Research Engineer
Thank you for your inquiry. Thermocouple is not sealed. When water is trapped inside the insulation after being submerged then the thermocouple will being to short out and give an intermittent incorrect millivolt output.

May I ask what is the transfer function (S-domain) of this sensor because I need to design a control system for certain application and I need the transfer function of this sensor.

Asked by: hakmi
Hi Hakmi, Thank you for the inquiry. We have not evaluated for this detail on response times. Testing has shown better than 0.3 seconds response time. Best regards, OMEGA

How do I convert the mV output to the respective temperature in degrees C?

Asked by: PierreLaplace
Thank you for your inquiry. You'll need a thermocouple meter. Please see this link to our temperature meters: https://www.omega.com/en-us/test-inspection/handheld-meters/c/temperature-and-humidity-and-dew-point-meters

Are these thermocouples resistant to electrical noise? How can I shield these thermocouples?

Asked by: Var11
Hi Varll, Thank you for the inquiry. The SA1 series have a polyamide film on the top and bottom of the thermocouple element. This insulates the TC from electrical noise via direct contact with process. If you experience electrical noise via RF please contact us for more solutions. Best regards OMEGA
