Well Made TC
This is a very well made thermocouple. The sheath is machined to high precision, and the response to temperature change is fairly quick.

Excellent product
Thermocouples work great and are as advetised. We have been purchasing from Omega on and off for many decades as our need for thermocouples is sporadic. But when we need them, we go to Omega.

Customer service lacking
Called customer service and was promptly directed to the website first and then if I have any issues to call back. Product is awesome though.

Great probe for temperature chamber
Very easy to set up, the rigidity of the probe allows in to stay it place close to the sample under test but it malleable enough to be bendable by hand. Highly recommend it.

Functional yes but improvement possibility
Ordered a SS k-type first but had some oxidation on probe. Followed up with a CAXL k-type and still have oxidation on probe. Both were used in the same SS protection tube. Ambient is a O2 rich environment using gas heated from 500 to 1700F. Not sure if exotic T/Cs would be a better choice.

What pressure are these thermocouples rated for?
Thank you for your inquiry Ellie2022. To expand on my previous answer, the sealed metal sheath portion of probe is pressure rated for G or U junctions, but not for E since G and U can be used with a compression fitting. The TJ spring section is not pressure rated.

What length needs to be inserted into the process for an accurate reading with a 6inch probe?
Hi Peter, considering the thermocouple sensor is at the tip of the probe, it would be safe to assume 0.5-1 inch would be needed to get an accurate reading.

Hi, What is the max temperature rating for the wire that connects the probe to the K-type connector? It looks like plastic shielding on the wire and I don't want to melt it.
Thank you for your inquiry.
The max temperature the wire can handle is 260C (500F)

Can these be attached to a 2.5mm jack for use with a wireless bbq style type thermometer?
Hi Schwonkhead,
If your thermometer accepts a type K thermocouple then possibly yes. You'll need to check the wireless thermometer input specifications.
Best regards
OMEGA

I am looking for 2 stainless steel temperature probes to go into a 55 gallon drum that’s height is 34 inches. I want to hook it to a controller to manage a heating blanket to maintain a temperature between 68 to 75°F. What Would you recommend
This would need to be reviewed with a Temperature Engineer due to the complexity so please send an inquiry to temp@omega.com.

can these probes be bent? will bending them effect the readings?
Hello and thank you for contacting Omega. Yes, we can confirm that these probes are bendable to 90 degrees and that the bend will not affect the readings. We suggest a bending radius of 0.33” or larger. Please contact our Tech Support if you have any further questions.

Am I able to install these into an exhaust stream with temperatures up to 1450 F without a thermowell?
Hi Nick. That should be no problem although the if you want the added protection a thermowell with a threaded bushing would work.
